Hello everyone: I hope you’re all well.
I’m playing two shows in September (on 3/9 and 22/9) as the summer winds down, at which I’d love to share some of my recent discoveries about crossovers in books and music, observations which have been fuelling my studies.
I will be playing some traditional folksongs, some of my own songs which have been very influenced by folksongs (songs like The Woods, and Something to Remember Me By), and reading some prose extracts from Angela Carter’s books to reveal her intimate rhythmic relationship with folk. I’d love for you to be there.
3 September 2016 – Cambridge
Acoustic Routes – tickets
CB2 Bistro, Norfolk Street, Cambridge CB1
I’m headlining this evening in a gorgeous basement venue playing to intimate audiences, a perfect gig, and with support from My Girl the River and Crooked Tree.
22 September 2016 – London
Ham & High Literary Festival
Venue tbc, London
I’ll be sharing an evening with Kathryn Williams playing her song inspired by Sylvia Plath, and Eddi Reader singing songs of Robbie Burns. More details about this gig to follow.
I begin my PhD in October at UEA studying the presence of the singing body in literature and how musical cadences can be transcoded into prose.
All my best to you all and hopefully see you soon!
Best wishes and happy holidays,
Polly P. x
